On February 14, 2018, a 19-year-old gunman opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, killing 17 people. The shooting was the deadliest in the history of high school shootings in the United States. It triggered a movement of young people protesting against the lack of gun control across the country, and major cities worldwide, including Berlin, London, Rome and Sydney, culminating in the March for Our Lives in Washington.
