Earthrise visits the USA and China to explore how these two major superpowers are now taking different approaches when it comes to leading the world in the fight against climate change.
Stephanie Wong visits Shenzhen, a city in southern China, to find out how the Chinese government’s bold new regulations to tackle air pollution are helping to unleash a revolution in renewable energy and clean transport. Shenzhen-based company, 'Build Your Dreams', is the world’s largest electric car and bus maker. The subsidising of private use and installation of charging points has led to the mass adoption of these vehicles in the city. And, there’s an alternative means of transport that has recently taken off - a handful of fiercely competitive dockless bike-sharing companies have changed the face of the country’s cycling habits in a matter of months. Stephanie meets one of them, 'Mobike', to learn more.
In Washington DC, Russell Beard joins the People’s Climate March where he meets some of those worried by Trump’s new environmental policies and affected by cuts to the EPA. He then travels around the states of New York and New Jersey, to discover what people are doing to combat climate change.
