Eeking out a living as a taxi driver in the Middle East is not for the faint-hearted, especially for Palestinian cabbies in Jerusalem. Salah Najib, a former civil engineer-turned cabbie, successfully built up a fleet of cars but his business was destroyed in 2000 due to the deteriorating security situation resulting from the Palestinian second Intifada. Like drivers everywhere, Jerusalem's Palestinian cabbies can face unruly passengers - but they face hardships simply because they're Palestinian.
